Due to sustained growth, we are currently seeking a Trainee Utility Surveyor to work within 1st Horizon’s Utility Location Division. The successful candidate will learn how to locate, and document buried services such as pipes, cables, ducts, etc. A combination of in-house tuition, mentoring, 3rd party training courses and gaining on-the-job experience is our approach to development in this role.

Radio Frequency Location & Ground Penetrating Radar equipment will be frequently used. Office based CAD drafting and 3D GPR post-processing will also form part of the training.

1st Horizon is now recruiting Apprentice 3D Digital Surveyors.
This is a 2.5-year Apprenticeship programme allowing you to obtain the following qualifications:
• NVQ Level 3 in Built Environment Design
• Level 3 BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment.

As one of our apprentice surveyors you will be involved in the 3D data capture, data processing and subsequent CAD/BIM modelling of existing sites. Projects are wide ranging and the role will be challenging, demanding and varied. Specific survey tasks may include 3D laser scanning, topographic surveys and site setting out. This apprenticeship will lay the foundations for a career in a variety of different roles such as 3D Surveyor, 3D CAD Technician, or BIM Technician.

The role will be based in South Yorkshire and will involve working on a diverse range of interesting and exciting projects both locally and across the UK, therefore apprentices must be willing to work away from home during the working week. Role & Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement mandatory requirements in support of Company Safety Rules and Legislative Requirements.
  • Administer and maintain QHSE Management Systems and activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and achievement of certification of ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 management systems and where these have been achieved, assist in maintaining and administering.
