The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join 1st Horizon…We are looking for a Hire Manager with a track record of success to join our team and take our Hire Department into new heights. Our ideal person must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and committed with strong communication skills.

As Hire Manager you will be an integral part of the company, you will be building and maintaining a profitable business with backing and support from the wider organisation by developing relationships with clients over the phone and face to face. You will be expected to manage every aspect of the department such as the servicing of equipment, successfully launching new products and technologies for hire, maintaining current client relationships, and ultimately winning new business in order to meet the departments huge growth potential.

To succeed in this role, you must be operationally minded with a high degree of commercial acumen, enthusiastic to create change and have a keen interest in technology. An eye for detail coupled with the skills to turn your creativity into tangible results are also essential for this role, you will have the opportunity to take the department from blank canvas to a productive and highly lucrative business.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Managing and controlling all hires and off hires
  • Promotion of both new and historic services & products
  • To meet our clients demand, you will establish and maintain the correct stock levels to maintain optimum equipment utilisation
  • Ensure the department processes servicing and repairs to our equipment in a timely fashion
  • Generating new business and reconnecting with aged clients
  • Effectively maintaining excellent relationships with clients and suppliers
  • Processing and documenting orders accurately onto our IT system
  • Attending meetings and site visits where needed.

Essential:

  • Initiative and the confidence to start things from scratch

1st Horizon is now recruiting Apprentice Business Admin (Level 3)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship

Salary: £200.00 per week

Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm

The Role: This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team working in the offices at 1st Horizon Surveying & Engineering Ltd based in Barnsley.

Duties Will Include:

  • Dealing with all customer enquiries via phone, email or face-to-face and ongoing customer communications.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Maintaining and developing telephone call register and mail logs.
  • Maintaining customer accounts and the customer database.
  • Progress reporting to Line Manager (daily or as appropriate depending on the requirement).
  • Provide assistance to manage and maintain internal filing systems via paper, online and archives.
  • Internal communications via email, notice board and memo.
  • Collate and record minutes from meetings, then file and distribute as appropriate.
  • Prepare for and support quality audits and become an internal auditor for business processes under guidance from the Line Manager.
  • File and ensure all company data and documents as well as customer data is stored securely.
  • All other tasks as specified by Senior Management to ensure safe and efficient operation of the business.

The Person:

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time efficiently.
  • Use own initiative.
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude and work well as a team.

Skills Required:

  • A good level of Maths and English
  • Able to use Microsoft Office packages to a high standard.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy when completing work tasks.

The successful candidate will study a Level 3 Business Administrator qualification. This will be aided by an assessor who will carry out all assessments as work-based learning within the workplace.
