Conventional land surveys are still very much an essential part of the construction design process, with XYZ positions captured on site in real-time. These surveys will provide valuable terrain data and details of surface features in a very cost-effective manner. The robust measurement techniques used can also be adopted to provide precision control for 3D scanning surveys as well as the recording of utility location data.

Topographic survey drawings are produced for design purposes as well as to provide 2D and 3D context for utility surveys. Robotic total stations are very accurate (capable of measuring positions to +/-1mm) and RTK GPS antennas allow surveys to be carried out on OS coordinate systems.
